About
Welcome to the vibrant coastal haven that is Salty Pelican Bar & Grill, nestled in the heart of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Located at 12 N Front St, this delightful eatery draws visitors and locals alike into its warm, inviting atmosphere. With a stellar reputation for its fresh seafood and classic American fare, the Salty Pelican blends quality ingredients with local charm to create an unforgettable dining experience.
As a self-proclaimed food enthusiast, I was immediately captivated by the tantalizing menu. The broiled oysters, prepared with a choice of Pelican Original horseradish garlic butter or a decadent blend of bacon and bleu cheese, set a high standard right from the start. And let’s not forget the iconic fried shrimp, crispy on the outside and succulent within, which received rave reviews from patrons who shared their experiences.
Beyond the exemplary seafood offerings, the menu also includes a diverse selection tailored for the whole family. Families can delight in favorites like the Angus burger or the chicken tenders, with all items priced reasonably between $7 and $9. For dessert enthusiasts, the Key lime pie and Reese's peanut butter pie provide a sweet finish, and the servings are generous enough to share—or keep all for yourself!
Hearing customer tales of exceptional service rounded out my interest. With anecdotes of attentive servers like Emily and Dwayne, who made guests feel right at home, it’s clear that the staff is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment. As one customer aptly put it, “the positivity is contagious,” which seems to be a staple at the Salty Pelican Bar & Grill.
Each visit is underscored by a strong sense of community—the kind that pulls you back time and again. If you're looking to create lasting memories over delicious food in a setting that screams coastal charm, the Salty Pelican is your go-to destination.
With its generous portions, friendly atmosphere, and a menu that keeps diners dreaming of their next visit, I wholeheartedly recommend making the stop at Salty Pelican Bar & Grill. “ My Wife and I had lunch here yesterday for the first time. The food was scrumptious and the service was perfect. My Wife had the Maine lobster roll with fries and I had the chicken bacon caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. She also had a salted caramel espresso. Our server Emily F. was perfect. She was attentive and friendly. She checked on us just the right amount and we had a great dining experience. Looking forward to returning here the next time we are in the area. ”
“ My husband’s and I’s most favorite restaurant in the world! When we are away from Florida, this restaurant is what we dream about. Every single item I have ever gotten here has been absolutely delicious. This magnificent restaurant will never disappoint me in my life! I am my happiest when I am at Salty Pelican Bar & Grill. ”
“ We had an incredible experience at The Salty Pelican! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a laid-back coastal vibe that instantly set the tone for a great afternoon . Our waiter, Dwayne, was absolutely outstanding—professional, attentive, and friendly. He made us feel right at home and took great care of us throughout the meal. The fried shrimp and oysters were cooked to perfection—crispy, flavorful, and fresh. Easily some of the best we’ve had. Every bite was a reminder of why we love good seafood spots like this. The entire staff brought a great energy to the place. You can tell they enjoy what they do, and that positivity is contagious. We’ll definitely be back! This place is a gem. ”
“ 10/10 experience! 1:30 pm on a Sunday and only a 10 minute wait, very prompt service and they do text conformations so you know you’re in line and when your table is ready. Service was great and the server was knowledgeable on the food, catch of the day was red drum and it was amazing! Appetizer of choice was Brussel Sprouts - perfect!!! Drinks were a great price and food came out quickly even though the place was packed. We will be back soon!! ”
“ Not sure why I’ve never checked this place out being that I don’t live far at all, but we finally decided to check it out and it was AMAZING. The food was so good, and our waitress Reeze absolutely deserves to be recognized! She was so nice, and attentive. We ordered fried green tomatoes (fried to perfection) and Philly Egg Rolls (sooo good) for our appetizers. For our meals, my wife ordered the Lobster Roll, our son got the cheeseburger with Mac and cheese, and I ordered steak with shrimp. It was all so good! They were busy (but it is tourist season) however our wait wasn’t too awful long. The inside of the restaurant was clean. We will 100% be back. ”
“ Some of the best peel and eat shrimp I’ve ever had! The homemade chips are incredible. Good, friendly staff and a neat atmosphere right on the Amelia River. ”
“ No frills food and charming atmosphere. We walked in and waited about 30 minutes for a table upstairs. We grabbed some drinks at the bar while we waited. The dining room upstairs is small, energetic, and resembles an old fishing village bar. There are bar seats and also seats along the beach side wall. We loved the relaxed vibe. We split some raw oysters and the baked oyster trio, which were delicious. I had the lobster roll and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich with pimento dip. Both were soo good. We also split a piece of key lime pie. After dinner we caught the New Year's Eve Shrimp Drop. We had an early dinner and finished just in time to catch this. Such a fun night ”
“ Fun place at the beach. Food was very good and the staff is friendly and attentive. They had a decent burbon selection and while it was busy, we did not wait long at all for our table. The fish was fresh and flavorful, the chicken tenders were wonderful, breaded perfectly, super savory. Tacos and salad were delicious and refreshing. I will be back next time I am in Fernandina. ”
